The Alternate End Chapter Sixteen
He will admit to being nervous as he sits down. The dark and silence of the room feels almost oppressive as he comes over, and Steve doesn’t really move as he settles on the other end of the couch. The man continues to sit with his knees tucked up to his chest, his eyes focused somewhere ahead in the dark middle-distance. Alright, step one, check, he thinks as he eases back into the couch. Step two, figure out what to do next. That is a little harder to do, and he sits in silence for a while, waiting as his heart begins to calm down and he thinks over his options.
